Privacy Policy

The short version. Patois has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. To convert a link it has to send that one link to its own conversion service. That is the only thing it sends anywhere.

What the app sends

When you convert a music link — through the share sheet, the Safari extension, or the extension popup — the app sends the following to the Patois conversion API at musicredirect-api.luc-aractingi.workers.dev:

The music link you are converting. For example a open.spotify.com or music.apple.com address.
Your IP address. This is not something the app adds — every request on the internet carries it. It is used to apply rate limits so the service cannot be abused.

Nothing else leaves your device. The app does not read your browsing history, your library, your listening activity, your contacts, your location, or the contents of any page other than the music link you asked it to convert.

What the app does not do

No account, sign-in, or email address is required or requested.
No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs are embedded.
No advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
No data is sold, rented, or shared with data brokers.

What is stored, and for how long

On the conversion service: the result of a conversion is cached for up to 30 days so that the same link does not have to be looked up twice. The cache is keyed by the music link itself. It contains no IP address, no device identifier, and nothing that identifies who requested it.
On your device: your extension settings (whether redirection is on, and in which direction) are stored locally by Safari and never transmitted.
Operational logs: the service runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare keeps short-lived request logs on our behalf for security, abuse prevention, and debugging. These are not used to build a profile of you.

Third parties involved in a conversion

Finding the matching song on the other platform means asking the platforms themselves. When you convert a link, the conversion service queries:

The Spotify Web API — to read the title, artist and duration of a Spotify link, or to search for a match.
Apple's iTunes Search API — to read or search the Apple Music catalogue.

These queries contain song metadata (title, artist) and come from our server, not from your device. Your IP address is not forwarded to them. Both are operated under their own privacy policies, and Cloudflare processes the request as our infrastructure provider.

Children

Patois is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

Your choices

There is no account to delete and no profile held about you. If you want the app to stop sending anything at all, turn off the Safari extension in Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions and stop using the share sheet action, or delete the app. If you would like a cached conversion result removed, get in touch and we will clear it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is sent or stored, the date at the top of this page will change and the updated policy will be published here before the change takes effect.
